Pet Insurance

With advances in medical knowledge and technology, treatments for our pets are getting better all the time, and very much in line with human medicine.  Unfortunately with no NHS for pets, these treatments can involve large and unexpected bills, and being able to pay for the care of our animals is a vital part of responsible ownership.

At Special Friends we would encourage all of our clients to consider taking out an insurance policy for their pets, so that the best treatment decisions can be made without worrying about the cost of them. 

Special Friends is not an insurance provider or broker, and cannot advise you which company is ‘best’, but we would suggest ensuring you get a policy that:

• Covers your pet for their whole lifetime (rather than just 12 months)
• Provides an adequate sum of money per policy year for any treatment

We do not charge for filling in and sending off insurance claims.

Any costs incurred for the treatment of your pet are payable on the day of that treatment, and ‘direct claims’ (where the insurance pays the practice rather than paying the policyholder) are only available with PRIOR agreement of the management. Please see our terms & conditions for more details.

For animals under 18 months of age and without existing cover, we can offer an introduction to Petplan Insurance to receive 4 weeks of free cover. Please ask at reception for more details
